Amanda Jacobson.
Welcome to my crazy, hectic world of anything and everything related to art and design. Senior at UW Oshkosh, pursuing a Fine Arts Major with an Emphasis in Graphic Design and also Graphic Artist employed at Reeve Marketing. I spend my days painting, illustrating, drafting, sketching, designing, and being lectured on design concepts and history. Just to run across campus straight to work and implement these ideas to clients seeking help visually advertising events and campaigns to the students of UW Oshkosh. Even outside of work and education, my creative eye never shuts. I'm a fashion addict and huge thrifting enthusiast- you can find me at a new thrift shop every Saturday digging for lucky finds to work into my personal style. I also love refurbishing vintage furniture, DIY projects, water color painting, cooking, baking, and social media. Being five foot ten inches tall, I like to joke that I have a "head" on the rest of the world. Not only is my height big, but also my heart, voice, cups of coffee, to-do lists, and ambitions.
I believe that more than anything, what makes me most employable is my natural instinct for what looks good. I have always had a strong eye for color, layout, imagery, and type- designing is something that comes easily to me. Also, the experience that I am being given right now at Reeve Marketing is definitely equipping me for the "real world". On a daily basis I meet with clients, problem solve through their wants and needs, come up with a final design, and in the end feel a sense of accomplishment seeing what I've created. Another aspect of the job is team work. I work with a Marketing Manager, 2 other Graphic Artists, a Web Developer, and 2 Marketing Interns in order to push out exceptional work. As a team, we've grown to learn from each other, work through one another's strengths and weaknesses, and have way too much fun along the way to think of it as "work". I could rant off a long list of things I can see myself doing in the future, tell you all of my hopes and dreams, or attempt to answer the "where do you see yourself in ten years" question. But to be completely honest, I don't know where I see myself ending up, or how things will be in the harsh reality of life after college. I know that I love to design and that it will take me places, I feel that I am constantly evolving as is my artistic style, and I look forward to see what big things the future will bring to both.
